My parents had the entire set of Foxfire books when I was a child and I was fascinated with all the old mountain ways, how to make lye soap (which we did and boy, that is one nasty smelling soap I was grateful to run out of when it was gone), to hog boiling and everything in between. All of this peppered with stories of life in the harsh Appalachians from courtship to sittin' up with the dead. But this one was always my favorite and guaranteed me a night with the lights on in delicious supernatural distress. I was so pleased to find several of the series available for my Kindle and have not been disappointed with any of these. Highly recommended for historical as well as entertainment value.Product details

The Foxfire series is a great resource to re-live the way things used to be. Each book focuses on a different aspect of mountain ways.
Great stories from the fascinating culture of the Appalachian mountain folk, captured in their own words -- you can almost hear the twang of the old voices telling them.
Love foxfire books
I love the foxfire books. Sometimes when I read them I can almost hear the voices of my grandparents.
Foxfire books are the best! Dig past the first part of this and enjoy! I first bought it when it came OUT! I guess I was around 2 years old or younger. Anyway got it again from for my K FIRE! GET IT.
This is a great book for lovers of folklore. Told in the vernacular of the mountains, it's both entertaining and educational. Pictures let you see who does the storytelling.
